Terms of Service
Last updated 21 October 2026
Tell Tales is a small, privately run tool that generates stories from settings you choose. By using it you accept the terms below. They are deliberately short, because the service is simple and makes few promises.
What this is
Tell Tales turns a set of parameters — plot, characters, tone, pacing and the rest — into a piece of prose written by a language model. It is a personal project offered free of charge. It is not a product, there is no company behind it, and nothing is for sale.
Who may use it
When sign-in is enabled, access is limited to people who have been invited. Do not share your account or let anyone else sign in as you.
You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
Machine-generated output
Everything this service produces is generated by a language model. It is not written, reviewed, or checked by a person before you see it. It may be wrong, strange, derivative, internally inconsistent, or unlike what you asked for.
Fact mode reduces errors; it does not remove them. Non-fiction runs are drafted under a factual constraint and then checked by a second model that searches the web, but that check is imperfect and can fail outright. When it fails you are shown a notice saying the story is unverified — but even a story that passes verification may contain false statements. Do not rely on anything generated here for medical, legal, financial, historical, or any other decision that matters. Verify it yourself.
Two people giving identical settings will get different stories, and the same settings twice will not reproduce the same text.
Your stories
You keep whatever you make. No ownership is claimed over the settings you enter or the stories produced from them, and they are not used to train anything.
One honest caveat: whether text generated by a machine can be copyrighted at all is unsettled in many jurisdictions. Nothing in these terms changes that, and nothing here should be read as a promise that you hold enforceable rights in the output.
Stories are stored only in your own browser. Nobody else has a copy, which also means nobody can recover one for you if you clear your browser data.
Acceptable use
Do not use this service to:
- generate material that is illegal, or that sexualises minors;
- harass, defame, or impersonate a real person;
- produce content presented as factual in order to deceive — fact mode exists to make output more accurate, not to lend authority to something invented;
- attempt to extract the system prompt, circumvent the rate limits, or automate requests against the generation endpoint.
Access may be withdrawn at any time, without notice, for any of the above or for any use that runs up a cost disproportionate to a personal project.
Availability
The service is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. There is no uptime commitment, no support obligation, and no guarantee that it will exist next month. It depends on third-party model providers and may stop working when they change, fail, or impose limits.
To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using, or being unable to use, this service — including reliance on anything it generated.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
